WHO WE ARE

We are residents of the beautiful, northernmost school district of Berks County, PA: Kutztown Area School District. We live in Kutztown Borough, Lyons, Bowers, Maxatawny Township, Greenwich Township, Lenhartsville, Kempton and Albany Township.

We are parents of current and former KASD students. We are business owners, health care workers, custodians and library clerks. We are woodworkers, pastors, musicians and mechanics. We are beekeepers and house painters, college professors and students. We are current and retired teachers, stay-at-home dads and traveling grandmas.

We come from varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and different political affiliations. And we have one cause in common: Supporting Quality Public Education for ALL KASD students. We support KASD's Educational Equity Policy 809 because it promotes:

EQUITY OF OPPORTUNITY

Equity in education is defined as every student having access to the resources and rigor they need at the right moment in their education across race, gender, ethnicity, language, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family background and/or family income. Barriers in education should be identified and removed so students can reach their full potential. High standards and improved outcomes are championed for all students to learn and grow in a welcoming environment.

QUALITY CURRICULUM:
TRUST TALENTED TEACHERS

KASD educators are motivated to facilitate meaningful teaching and learning. From the science of Sacony Creek to the inspiration of Hawk Mountain – and so many subjects and standards in between – KASD teachers bring their passions and talents to the table. Guided by detailed, quality curriculum that has been developed for each subject and grade level, we trust our educators to teach increasingly complex concepts and inspire creativity and innovation in a safe, nurturing environment.

Because our teachers take the lead with their training and expertise, we do NOT support banning materials or concepts.

INCLUSIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Students learn better when they feel welcome, safe, understood. We support professional development that will help our teachers promote cultural competency and inclusion for all students, including underserved or marginalized students. We also support initiatives to improve the diversity and inclusion of our school staff.
